A Few Considerations

When choosing an RC car there are a few considerations you need to take into account first. Do you have open land or a large parking lot that is flat where an RC car can be driven? RC cars can quickly get The Limited Store Web Site if you race over uneven land - one bump and you may be out a hefty price! Scalloped Neckline you live in the city are there any rules restricting these vehicles or neighbors that may complain about the noise gas powered RC cars make? If so you may need a muffler on your exhaust or a lower-powered engine.

Picking A Kit Or RTR RC Car

Gas powered RC cars run on a nitro methane fuel that you can refill for unlimited running time and 80+ mph isn’t out of the question! These cars or trucks are typically powered by a small two-stroke engine burning nitro methane, giving them the moniker of a NITRO car or truck. Different engines burn different mixtures of fuel, however, so that’s something you want to watch for when purchasing your car. Speaking of purchasing your RC vehicle there are two big questions you need to ask yourself. Do I want to build the car myself or do I want to purchase a RTR or “ready to run” vehicle? The DIY kits are a lot more expensive and Swarovski you know what your doing then a RTR RC car is probably more inline with what your looking for.

The Little Engine That Could

Can gas powered RC cars really go 80+MPH? Yes! Swarski nitro methane burning cars have what is called a two-stroke “glow” engine. The two-stroke engine is equivalent to a weed-eater motor which can pump out up to 5HP which is a LOT considering the size of an RC car. The “glow” refers to how the engine gets its spark to ignite the fuel. A “glow starter” heats up a “glow plug” which in turn causes the fuel to ignite and WHAM, you get your breakneck speeds.

Not All Fuels Are The Same!

The next thing that you have to worry about is what kind of fuel mixture you are going to be using in your car. The type of engine that you choose will dictate what kind of mixture the manufacturer will recommend. Typically in gas powered RC cars the mixture is between 10-40%. Once you have your car up and running you can experiment with different mixtures in your engine to get the kind of performance that compliments how you race your car.

Her Baby Died Before Birth and No One Wants to Talk About It

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Just yesterday a woman called me and told me that she had lost her 24-week-old fetus, and when she told those whom she thought cared about her, most didn’t want to talk about it. Or even worse, they responded with comments like: “well, it was never really born, so…” or “you’re young, you can have more children.” Even her closest friends were at a loss for words. She was devastated by their lack of compassion.

I was not at all surprised. Most of us today shy away from talking about death. We are uncomfortable with this topic, because we have no idea what death really is. Oh yes, we know that when the heart stops beating and the lungs stop breathing, the body dies. But no one knows what happens to the non-body part of us, which we call the soul. No one knows what happens to us after we die, since no one has come back thirty days after they died, to give us any information. We have beliefs, it is true. Some of us believe in Heaven and Hell, some of us don’t. But nobody knows for sure.

Between that lack of knowledge of death and the fear we all have of it, silence reigns supreme when someone dies. And I suppose it is even worse when someone “dies” even before their birth, or when there is a miscarriage, or a stillbirth.

What makes this such a painful experience is that such a death can be called a “double death,” and it is this doubling of grief that complicates the mourning process.

First, the baby died. That in itself is a tragedy. Mom carried the fetus for however long she carried it, and to now be faced with the grim reality that what was growing in her body is now gone, has got to be hard for her.

But in addition, this death is also the death of her hopes, dreams and expectations for this unborn child of hers. She was already dreaming about his growing up and making friends in school, moving on to college life experiences, her marriage and the birth of grandchildren. All this too has now come to an end. This is the “double death” that Mom is now feeling. And nobody wants to talk to her about it. Or worse, they treat this death as something less than important, unworthy of caring about it.

And the tragedy of it all is, all she needs is for those close to her to reach out and listen to her, to treat this as “real,” not something she made up. She needs hugs from her friends, not silence or condescension. She needs to know they still love her, so that she can begin again to love herself and to properly prepare for the rest of her life.

Etiquette for Baby Shower

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Etiquette for baby shower used to be quite rigid, but rules have relaxed in the past several years. Etiquette is a word that strikes fear in the heart of many party planners. You don’t want anyone to get upset or think that you are being rude. There are several rules of that you should be aware of. Whether or not you follow them is up to you.

It used to be that etiquette for baby shower said that mothers of the new parents should not plan a baby shower. Some people may have viewed this as a gift grab by the family. Even sisters were not supposed to plan the baby shower. However, in past years this rule has fallen by the wayside. If you are related to a new mom, go ahead and plan her baby shower to your heart’s content.

The next etiquette for baby showers rule you need to consider is whom to invite. If you know the new mom well, most of the guest list will be obvious. However, you should show her the list to make sure that no one has been left out.

If the shower is a surprise, run the list by a few people that are close to her. This way they might notice some names missing that you may have forgotten.

Invitations don’t follow any sort of baby shower etiquette rules anymore. People still enjoy receiving baby shower invitations in the mail, but you can phone guests or email them as well. Just be sure in the case of email that guests actually check it regularly!

Etiquette for a baby shower says that you should not ask guests to bring anything. You should not even imply that they are to bring a gift. This is obvious, but no one likes to be directly asked to spend money. If you are asking people to pitch in for a large gift, this is considered acceptable.

You should also not ask people to bring food with them. Most people will feel insulted that they are expected to bring a nice gift and now make some food as well. This is your job as the hostess. If you are doubtful that you can make all the food yourself, ask only close friends and relatives. Be sure to make them feel appreciated.

Etiquette for a baby shower also says when the best time to have the baby shower. Typically you should have it one to two months before the baby’s due date. This allows the mom time to put gifts on her registry. She can also have some time to purchase anything that she did not receive at the shower.

Party favors used to be expected. This is not at all necessary anymore, but still a lot of fun for the guests. Consider a small bag with baby related items, especially edible ones! You can find adorable chocolates and candies that are perfect for baby showers.

A final note on etiquette for a baby shower. You may be wondering if it is considered insensitive to invite someone who has recently miscarried. While attending a baby shower may be difficult for her, you should always give her the option of coming.

Baby shower etiquette is important, but not so much as with other events such as bridal showers. If you take other people’s feelings into consideration you will probably follow all necessary etiquette. Every group of people is different and something that offends one may not offend another. Try not to let etiquette determine too much of what you do, but listen to common sense. The perfect baby shower can be a piece of cake.

New Year Resolution - Build Confidence

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Being more confident is a goal that a lot of people want to keep in the New Year, and certainly well beyond it. Indeed, who can resist confident people? Truly confident people talk a certain way and have a certain vibe or atmosphere surrounding them that can be both infectious and inspiring. It is no wonder that a lot of people want to build confidence, and not just in learning how to speak up in public or do something that they have not done before. True confidence takes years to build, and it is not absolute. That is, being confident in one field does not necessarily entail confidence in another.

There are many different forms of confidence that you need to take into consideration before you start making that New Year’s resolution. When making your New Year’s resolution to build your confidence, you will need to be specific, and to say exactly what it is you want to be confident in. Here are a few things that you might want to build confidence in, along with the advantages that being confident in them will carry.

Try to build confidence in speaking up in a crowd. Being able to speak up in front of a large crowd is a skill that not only requires confidence, but an ability to read people. You will need to gauge how well your jokes are working, how you should tweak your language to fit the needs of your audience, and how receptive your audience is to your manner and style of speaking. If you are able to speak out in front of a crowd, you can sometimes find it easier to read people and be sensitive to their feelings; non-verbal communication is important in being able to speak up in public.

Try to build confidence in releasing your artistic works. Some painters paint a picture, and then stow it away underneath their beds or in a closet somewhere, never to see the light of day. Other painters paint a picture, and then show it to a gallery owner; if they are rejected, they never apply to another gallery owner, and instead consecrate themselves to perpetual anonymity. On the other hand, the more confident painters paint a picture, show it to a gallery owner, and then keep on trying until they find a gallery owner who wants to showcase their work; in other words, confident people know their abilities well enough to keep on trying and to keep on honing them.

This is not only applicable to painters. It can work for sculptors who are in need of their own galleries or buyers, novelists and poets who are looking for publishers, and dancers, singers, or actors who are in need of a big break in show business. In building confidence in such fields, artists do not simply plunge forward: they attend workshops, have people review their work, go into edits or practicing, and emerge much better in the end. Make no mistake however: not all successful artists are completely confident.

Try to build confidence in asking for something that you want. Are you hoping to get that promotion at work but are always struck dumb when you have to approach your boss and talk to him or her about it? Are you hoping to get that raise at work but are always intimidated by your loud manager? Are you hoping to get the man or woman of your dreams? There are so many things that we want in life, and we know that we can achieve them; however, they can sometimes lie much farther from our reach because we have no confidence to ask for them.

In this case, there are many ways to build confidence. You can do better at work, and, backed up by your experience and success, thus have more confidence to ask for that raise or demand that promotion. You can get a good job and get a makeover, and thus be more confident when approaching that man or woman of your dreams. In the latter case, however you may need more a confidence to be yourself: if you step behind a mask, chances are, your efforts will show, and you might be rejected at the onset.

These are only a few aspects of confidence that you might want to build up come the New Year. Take note that there are many more aspects of confidence that have not been tackled here, and you may have your own confidence issues to deal with. In any case, you need to exert a lot of effort to get what you want, and in some cases, you need to actually go back to school or attend some classes to get the knowledge that you need to be confident and finally achieve your dreams.

Popular Trends In Hairstyles

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Hairstyle is simply defined as a style in which hair is cut and arranged. It is also termed as haircut and hairdo. Hairstyles have been forming an essential part of human personality reflecting the social, political and cultural trends since the history of mankind. They also reveal the custom, peculiarities and personal traits of different people.

From the beginning of time, men and women have cared for their hairs. No doubt women were always more possessive about their hairs and had a concept of beauty, adornment and attractiveness. The Ancient Egyptians were known for their attention to beauty and cleanliness. Since about the 4th century B.C they have used knives, hairpins and combs and later in the 3rd century B.C Egyptian women starting using hair extension and artistic wigs. Women there were more conscious about the length and thickness of their hairs. They believed that long and thick hairs look beautiful and add on to their personality.

Later in between the 1500 and 650 B.C, the Greeks developed their unique hairstyles and the most well known hairstyles n the 500 B.C. was the “Green Knot”. The Greek women used to hold their hairs together and form a knot at the neck, called the Green Knot. Since then buns and knots were in fashion. In the same period Greeks also used saffron to lighten their hair.

Hairstyles were not only the concern for Greek women but the Greek men also had great concern for the same. Short and curly hairs for men were the most known hairstyle. New and various fashion trends came up and later between 500 B.C and 500 A.D the Romans added various adornment to their hairstyles. These decorations were made of gold, silver and ivory.

In the Middle Ages short, chin length and curly hairs became known. Then in the Modern Age, the Age at the front of fashion, trends and styles, hairstyles became more imaginative. Various hairstyles adorned with ribbons, gold, precious stones and pearls were becoming popular. In the Baroque and Biedermeier periods several hairstyles were disappeared along with the wigs. From 1850 onwards, with the advancement in technology more and more people started going to the hair dresser to bring a complete new look to their personality. In 1872 crimping, waves produced using a hot iron, were invented and were in trend for a long time. Even today crimping is the most preferred hairstyle for young girls. In the 20th century perm was invented, a hairstyle with a permanent wave. Thereafter new trends, fashion and technical possibilities brought in various other hairstyles to add to the human personality.

The most common and popular hairstyles of the 20th century includes layers, curls, perm, sedu, steps, bun, bob cut, short haircut, long hair and many more. Fashion is at the front today giving a wider way to different hairstyles for both men and women.

Obama says offshore drilling stance nothing new

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama responded Saturday to criticism that he has changed his position on opposing offshore oil drilling.

Looking to experiment with new hair style trends in 2006? Your choices abound! There’s an absolute feast of looks to choose from. Update your hair style with one of these hot trends that dominate the hair scene this year.

Bobs With Bang

Precision cut bobs are huge this year, coupled with smooth, sleek styling, a blunt fringe and heaps of shine. Your bob should be carefully crafted to accentuate your unique facial structure, or highlight a long, beautiful neck. Bob hair styles range from ear level to shoulder skimming and are best for straight or slightly wavy hair. If your hair is too curly, a bob can take on the look of a triangle, widening at the bottom in an unflattering way. Only opt for the bangs with this hair style if it works with your facial structure. And if you’re feeling a little more groovy baby…incorporate a mod feel into your bob.

Mad For Mod

Heavy, side-swept bangs and blunt lines characterize this cut. A mod hair style is similar to a bob, it’s texture and direction that add a mod feel. This cut has a generous amount of slicing or texturizing to lighten up the bluntness. Your hip, mod hair do should be styled with a swooping motion, directing the hair around the head from the crown or a deep side part. Using hair products like waxes, clays, or muds add texture and a bit of grungy-funk to a mod hair style.

Asymmetry in Action

This edgy look just keeps getting more extreme! Bold exploration is the name of the game. Unexpected texture and length differences. The asymmetrical look can be done on a range of hair styles from a short cut, a bob or a longer, layered style. And the angles can range from soft and gently sloping to an extreme plunge. This year, asymmetrical bangs are hot, and whether they’re cut blunt or heavily textured, a sloping bang adds interest and can highlight your features nicely.

Strategic Layers

Carved throughout the interior of the hair, strategic layers bring out the authentic movement of each individual head of hair. Cutting techniques are advancing, and hair styling is becoming more bold and unique to each person rather than a universal one-size-fits-all hair trend like back in the “Rachel” days. Strategic layering allows you to capitalize on what YOU have, not just mimic “The look of the day.” Find a good hair stylist and listen to their ideas about styles and techniques that’ll work best on your hair, while complimenting your features.

Peaks, Swirls, and Waves

Directional styling, if you want to sound technical. This look is funky and daring, and offers alot of room for individuality. Since every head of hair is different, your unique character can shine within the peaks of this hot new hair style. Use a wax, clay, or mud hair product, something with a little grit, and a little hold. Emulsify the product in your hands so there’s a thin veil of product all over your palms and between your fingers. Then plunge right in there and move the hair around with an eye out for an appealing shape. Swoop it, swirl it around, change directions suddenly. Coiffe with reckless abandon! And when you’ve achieved the start of a good look. Grab you blowdryer (on a low setting) and maximize the peaks and waves using your most important hair styling tool…your hands. Do not strive for perfection, but do aim for an “artful” feel, and some sort of discernible shape. Then set about your day and go forth with confidence knowing you’re the baddest hipster on the block!

Color for Character

Hair color can have a dramatic effect on an otherwise plain hair style. Rich dark colors are ultra-hot this year, sprinkled with a few equally rich highlights peeking out from underneath. Deep tones of eggplant, burgundy, and mahogany are a great compliment to a dark brown or black hair color. Strategically placed highlights, lowlights, or panels can accentuate texture and add tons of character to your style. Compliment your features and skin tone, and add an edge to your haircut with some artful hair coloring.
